Specialist Hospitals

Specialist hospitals are clinics that provide services that are located within a hospital. They serve to get the best service outcome for a patient’s treatment and care. They are also known as specialist clinics in hospitals, making them an important link between care in the hospital and community. They provide access to medical, nursing, midwifery and allied health professionals for assessment, diagnosis and treatment; ongoing specialist management of chronic and complex conditions in collaboration with community healthcare professionals; pre- and post-hospital care maternity care; and related diagnostic services, such as pathology and imaging. All our staff go through the same rigorous process of one-to-one interviews and skills auditing to determine areas of need in both academic, training and behavioural skills. We are constantly doing this to ensure gaps are established and staff are upskilled on a continuous basis.
